Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Xplore Attractions collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our website.

We aim to collect as little personal information as possible while still providing useful travel discovery, trip-planning, saved-trip, suggestion, and partner-link features.

1. What We Collect and Process

A. Email address for magic-link and verification features

If you choose to use features such as My Trips, saved favourites, saved routes, suggestion verification, or magic-link access, we process your email address for those limited purposes.

We do not store your email address as plain text. Email addresses are stored in encrypted form, and we may store a masked version, such as a partially hidden email address, for display, support, auditing, or recovery purposes.

We do not use your email address to create advertising profiles, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing unless you separately opt in.

B. My Trips, saved places, and saved routes

If you use My Trips, save favourites, save routes, or request magic-link access, we process information needed to provide those features. This may include saved attractions, saved route endpoints, route geometry, route settings, travel mode, and related trip-planning preferences.

We do not store your email address as plain text. Email addresses are stored in encrypted form, and we may store a masked version, such as a partially hidden email address, for display, support, auditing, or recovery purposes.

C. Suggested places and uploaded content

If you suggest a place, we may process the information you submit, such as the attraction name, description, location coordinates, source notes, verification status, and any photos you upload.

Suggested places are reviewed before publication. Submitted photos may be processed, resized, sanitized, or converted before they are used on the site. We may contact you about your suggestion if follow-up is needed.

D. Location features

Some features may ask your browser for access to your location, for example to show nearby attractions, dining, accommodation, luggage storage, routes, or other travel services. We only receive your location if you choose to allow it through your browser or device.

Location information is used to provide the feature you requested. You can deny or revoke location permission through your browser or device settings.

E. Preference cookies or similar browser storage

We use limited browser storage technologies, such as cookies or similar storage, to remember settings needed to provide the browsing experience you requested. This may include:

  • selected location;
  • selected filters;
  • language or display preferences;
  • similar user preferences needed for requested functionality.

These technologies are used only to support requested functionality and improve continuity of use.

F. Technical and operational data

Like most websites, our hosting, security, and server infrastructure may automatically process limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, timestamps, request paths, or basic server logs as needed for security, fraud prevention, debugging, system integrity, and reliable delivery of the website.

We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.

G. Analytics and aggregate usage metrics

We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how Xplore Attractions is used and to improve the service. We use Plausible Analytics for aggregate website measurement. Plausible does not use cookies, does not create persistent visitor identifiers, does not track visitors across websites, and does not provide us with personal visitor profiles.

Plausible may process limited technical information such as page URL, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, and approximate location derived from the request, but IP addresses are not stored by Plausible. Analytics data is used only in aggregate form.

We may also keep internal aggregate usage metrics, such as which destinations are viewed, which attraction details are opened, how often favourites are saved or removed, which nearby actions are used, and how often route-planning or My Trips features are accessed. These metrics are intended to help us improve Xplore Attractions and are not used to identify individual users unless a feature explicitly requires user-linked data to function.

H. Affiliate links and partner services

Some links on Xplore Attractions may redirect through our own tracking links before sending you to a third-party travel partner, such as a tour, ticket, luggage storage, accommodation, connectivity, or booking provider.

When you click one of these links, we may record limited information such as the partner, offer, placement, page path, date and time, approximate device category, and whether the request appears automated. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.

Once you leave Xplore Attractions, the third-party provider's own terms and privacy policy apply.

2. What We Do Not Intend to Collect

We do not intend to collect or store more personal information than necessary for the limited features we provide.

In particular, we do not intend to collect:

  • payment card information;
  • government-issued identification information;
  • sensitive personal information;
  • detailed personal profiles for advertising;
  • personal information unrelated to the website's core functionality.

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we process to:

  • provide and maintain the website;
  • remember selected settings, filters, language, and display preferences;
  • enable My Trips, favourites, saved routes, and related user features;
  • send, verify, expire, or invalidate magic links and verification codes;
  • review and manage suggested places;
  • show nearby attractions, dining, accommodation, travel services, or routes when requested;
  • measure aggregate website usage and improve the service;
  • track outbound partner handoffs and prevent misuse of affiliate redirect links;
  • respond to messages you send through the contact form;
  • recover access to user-linked saved data;
  • protect the website against abuse, misuse, and technical failures;
  • comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal Bases for Processing (for EEA/UK users)

If European data protection law applies, we process personal data only where we have a valid legal basis, including:

  • performance of a contract or taking steps at your request, such as providing My Trips, saved routes, magic links, or suggestion features;
  • consent, such as when you allow browser location access or opt in to optional communications;
  • legitimate interests, such as maintaining website security, preventing abuse, improving the service, and operating core site functionality;
  • compliance with legal obligations where required.

Where consent is required by law, we will ask for it. You may withdraw consent where applicable.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use limited cookies or similar technologies necessary to remember settings you have chosen and to provide requested functionality.

At this time, we do not use cookies for:

  • behavioral advertising;
  • cross-site tracking;
  • ad personalization.

Our analytics provider, Plausible Analytics, does not use cookies or persistent identifiers.

If we add non-essential cookies or similar technologies in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, request consent before using them.

6. Third-Party Services

We may use third-party service providers to help operate or improve Xplore Attractions. These may include hosting, email delivery, maps, geocoding, route calculation, analytics, security, travel partner APIs, and affiliate or booking providers.

These providers process information only as needed for the relevant service or as described in their own terms and privacy policies. When you leave Xplore Attractions for a third-party site, that third party's own terms and privacy policy apply.

7. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:

  • maintaining access to My Trips, favourites, saved routes, and related saved data;
  • supporting magic-link access, recovery, and security;
  • reviewing and managing suggested places and uploaded content;
  • maintaining aggregate usage metrics and affiliate click records;
  • meeting security, operational, and legal obligations.

When information is no longer reasonably needed, we will delete it or de-identify it where practical.

8. Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may share limited information only in the following circumstances:

  • with service providers that help us host, secure, operate, or improve the website;
  • where necessary to deliver the features you request;
  • where required by law, legal process, or valid governmental request;
  • to protect the rights, safety, security, and integrity of the website, our users, or others;
  • in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

9. International Users and Cross-Border Processing

Xplore Attractions may be used by people in multiple countries. Information may be processed in countries other than the one where a user is located, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or other countries where our service providers operate.

Where required, we will take appropriate steps to protect personal data involved in international transfers.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures may include encryption, access controls, HTTPS, limited administrative access, review workflows, and processing safeguards for uploaded content.

No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we try to minimize both the amount of data we process and the risks associated with it.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to:

  • request access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your personal data;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • request portability where applicable;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator or supervisory authority.

To exercise any applicable rights, use our contact form.

12. Children's Privacy

The website is not intended for young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will address it as appropriate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the "Last updated" date.
